You might think there is nothing you can do for people who have lost their jobs and are finding it next to impossible to feed their families, but you can help them.

Now you and your whole family can raise money to help those in need and have fun at the same time by participating in our bike-a-thon on July 10, 2010. The event will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Allegan Sports Complex off Hooker Road. There will be a 1 mile ride for younger students and a 10 mile ride for older students and adults. All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or a responsible adult regardless of which ride they choose.

All donations must be turned in the day of the event by 10:00 a.m. Prizes will be awarded to three individuals with the highest amount of donations in both riding events. Free “goodie bags” will be given out to the first 100 riders to register and water will be available at check points along the 10 mile route as well as at the sports complex.

There are so many people in our community that are in need of food assistance right now, maybe some people that you know personally. This is a great way for you and your family to help them and have some fun too. So, take this letter home (pledge sheet is on the back) and get started. Additional pledge sheets will be available at Allegan County Resource Development Committee, Inc., 323 Water Street, Allegan.
